FAQ

What is the Strava app?

Strava works as a training log, but above all it lets you compare your performance on a defined segment with other runners who have run it too. It’s quite addictive—you’ll likely get hooked, at least for a while. On Android and iOS, Strava can record activities directly via your smartphone. You can also manage your account via the website (strava.com), where you can upload activities from other devices such as GPS watches or loggers. If you use Garmin, Suunto, Polar, etc., your activities can be synced automatically. More details: support.strava.com/hc/en-us

Why do I need to use Strava?

Because Strava is the best tool to compare all participants on each stage. When you record or upload your activity, it pairs with our pre-defined segment, so we know you’ve run the stage correctly.

Why do I need to register here on the website too?

Strava doesn’t allow us to contact you directly if you win. Also, on Strava you don’t need to use your real name—you could use just a nickname. But for prize delivery we need your actual name. Registration here is required only once (as long as you don’t change your Strava username during the event).

Can I run one stage multiple times?

Yes, as many times as you want—even 100 times. All runs will be included in the results, even repeats within the same day.

When will my run count towards the overall TRAILTOUR ranking?

All activities on official TRAILTOUR routes run between September 1 and October 31, 2025 will count.

How are individual stages evaluated?

Very simply: only the fastest man and woman in each stage win a TRAILTOUR headband (see rules).

At the end of the competition, parallel sub-contests (Sprinter, Climber, Gravel) have their own rankings.

We also publish the overall TRAILTOUR ranking, where all your completed stages count and valuable prizes are awarded.

Can I take part in more than one stage?

Of course—and we strongly recommend it. Besides prizes for winners, there’s also an attractive lottery for everyone who completes at least one stage (see rules).

Can I score points just on one chosen stage?

Yes. You can keep running a single stage near your home daily, even multiple times per day.

What is the comparison coefficient?

It’s a balancing factor between short, fast, easily repeatable stages (Sprinter) and longer, more demanding ones (Climber, Gravel) that can’t be repeated multiple times in one day (see rules).

Do I need to register every time I run another stage?

No. You only need to register once, after your first completed stage.

Are the stages marked?

No special TRAILTOUR markings exist. Most routes follow regular marked tourist, educational, or cycling trails. We recommend carefully studying the route in advance, preparing an itinerary, or printing a map.

Where can I send feedback or comments?

You can email us at trailtour@vavrys.cz or share your thoughts in the public discussion group on Instagram @trailtour.run

What if I ran the stage correctly, but Strava didn’t match me to the segment?

  1. Sometimes GPS glitches happen. In that case, follow [this guide].
  2. If your activity still won’t pair, send us the Strava URL of your run to trailtour@vavrys.cz. We’ll check the stage and manually add unpaired results to the final ranking after the event ends.
  3. Live results are updated from Strava on-time at www.trailtour.run. For this reason, manual additions are possible only after the whole TRAILTOUR ends.
